Estimated budget

How much does a trip to Venice cost?

Venice is one of Italy's priciest cities, but there is room for every budget. Budget travelers eating cicchetti (€2–4 each) at bacari and staying in a hostel can manage around €100–150 per person per day. Mid-range travelers staying in a 3-star hotel and dining at trattorie should budget €200–300 per day. Luxury travelers at boutique canal-side hotels with fine dining can easily spend €400–600+ per person per day.

The single biggest cost driver is accommodation: canal-view rooms carry a significant premium. Eating standing up at a bacaro rather than seated at a restaurant can cut your food bill by 60–70%. A multi-day ACTV vaporetto pass (€25/24h, €35/48h, €45/72h) is far cheaper than buying single tickets (€9.50 each) if you plan to cross the lagoon more than twice a day.

Note: Venice charges a Contributo di Accesso (day visitor fee) of €5–10 on roughly 60 peak days per year. Overnight hotel guests are exempt. Use our access fee checker to see if your dates are affected.
