Check whether Venice's Contributo di Accesso day visitor fee applies to your visit date in 2026 — and whether you're exempt as an overnight guest.

About Venice's Contributo di Accesso

Venice introduced the Contributo di Accesso (day visitor access contribution) in 2024, making it the first city in the world to charge a fee for day visitors during peak periods. The fee applies on roughly 60 designated peak days per year, generally weekends and public holidays between late March and mid-July.

2026 fee amounts

  • €5 — booked in advance online at venicevisitpass.com
  • €10 — paid on the day at physical kiosks

Who is exempt?

  • Visitors staying overnight in a Venice hotel, B&B, or registered short-let (Airbnb etc.) — your accommodation tax (tassa di soggiorno) already contributes
  • Children under 14
  • Venice residents and workers
  • Students enrolled at Venice universities
  • People visiting for medical appointments or disability support

When and where does it apply?

The fee applies from 8:30 to 16:00 at the main entry points to the historic centre (Piazzale Roma, Venice Santa Lucia railway station, and the Tronchetto parking island). Entry after 16:00 or before 8:30 on a fee day is free.

Always verify the current official fee calendar at veneziaunica.it or cda.venezia.it — the list of peak days can change. This tool uses the published 2026 schedule as a guide only.
